Catherine R. Armbruster, MPH – INDIAbetes Director

Bachelor of Science, Master of Public Health

Catherine received her master's degree in public health at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. She works at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion. Catherine recently returned from Chennai, India, where she designed a research study on risk factors related to migration and diabetes at the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation. She also worked with MDRF's Project ORANGE, a study of 25,000 school children in Chennai that aims to clinically detect undiagnosed diabetes and will positively influence the nutrition and eating behavior of these children and their families (approximately 100,000 people) through education. She is continuing her research in a migrant population of Indians living in Atlanta and their non-migrant family in India to understand the role of dietary acculturation and assimilation into American culture on obesity and Type 2 diabetes.

Brian Z. Danin – Company President and Producer

Bachelor of Fine Arts - Film Production, Masters of Business Administration

Brian was born in Colorado and grew up in the small mountain town of Manitou Springs, a vibrant artist community in Colorado a few miles west of Colorado Springs.
Brian Z. Danin is the owner of BZD Films (BZD Productions LC), an Atlanta based independent media company. He received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in film production from the University of British Columbia in 2007 and will receive a Masters of Business Administration from the Georgia Institute of Technology in May, 2010, with an emphasis in entrepreneurialism and innovations. Mr. Danin has produced films for over a decade. Currently, his film Personal Growth (16mm 2007) is in international distribution and INDIAbetes (2008) is being expanded into a feature length film. Mr. Danin was a founder, former director, and current board member of the Vancouver Short Film Festival (VSFF), the premiere short film festival of Western Canada. He previously worked for Turner Broadcasting and CNN. During his tenure at Georgia Tech, Mr. Danin managed a television production unit at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
